Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral Primary School

Primary 4 transport audience back to Victorian era

Primary 4 took to the stage on Friday 30th May for a fascinating learning showcase all about the Victorians. Their audience were entertained with a host of lively, toe-tapping songs whilst discovering fascinating facts about Victorian inventions such as the telephone and bicycle, how industrialisation transformed life in Great Britain and what it was like to attend a Victorian school. The audience also heard about child labour in the Victorian era, how numerous children opted to be pickpockets rather than go to the workhouse, and the changes in law which eventually improved the lives of children.

Cathedral Primary has been around since 1875, so what a perfect showcase for the school’s 150th anniversary year! Well done to Primary 4 for their amazing performance and many thanks to Mrs McCulloch and Miss McGeough for preparing the children for their big day.
