This week in Cathedral Nursery, our young learners have been busy finding out about religious festivals and traditions. They talked about their existing knowledge of some well-known traditions such as Pancake Tuesday and then used iPads to learn about Ash Wednesday, the month of Ramadan and Eid.
In our STEM area, our learners have been exploring measuring in a variety of ways. They have found out about tools we use to measure things accurately such as a measuring tape, metre stick and a ruler. Some of our younger children were able to use other ways to measure such as foot span and building blocks to measure height. Our wooden toolkits have been well used this week by our young engineers and they have given careful thought to health and safety.
All children enjoyed sharing their favourite books and stories on World Book Day and this sparked great conversations about likes and dislikes. In our story area, our young learners were encouraged to vote for ‘Story Of The Week’ and some of our pre-school children went on to share the reasoning behind their vote. The children also worked together to create a giant beanstalk for the playroom and built the giant’s castle using recycled materials.
What an incredible week of learning!
