Starting Nursery in North Lanarkshire; admissions, policy and applications
The transition to Early Years Education marks a huge milestone in a child’s life. This change of environment and daily routines will be closely monitored by our staff, ensuring that your child is supported as necessary while they settle into life at Kirkshaws.
As you settle into Kirkshaws Nursery Class we will aim to:
- offer a relaxed, welcoming environment where everyone feels valued, happy and safe.
- recognise and support the emotional, social and academic needs of your child as they arise.
- work in partnership with families to ensure we are best meeting your needs during this time of change.
As a staff we will:
- carry out an enrolment process to formally introduce and welcome new children and their parents/carers to the Nursery.
- gather information from you, about your child, prior to their placement, e.g. likes, dislikes, favourite activities, etc.
- ensure you and your child are welcomed at the door when you arrive each day.
- offer familiar play experiences to promote self-confidence.
- deal sensitively with any anxieties you or your child may have
- invite you to stay for sufficient time so that your child feels settled and you feel comfortable about leaving.
- liaise with you regularly to ensure we share relevant information about your child.
It is the responsibility of the Management, along with Nursery staff to monitor, evaluate and review the above arrangements and to adjust them according to individual needs.
