School Uniform Update
The following letter was emailed out to all school parents
Dear Parent/Carer,
We’ve received a few queries about school uniform since Friday, so I wanted to clarify what was discussed at assembly. The message delivered was as I emailed home on the 30th August.
At Kirkshaws Primary School, the wearing of school uniform is expected and actively encouraged. It also helps to create an identity with the school and when all children are wearing uniform, it provides a level playing field for our pupils without families feeling any pressure to buy branded clothing. We have a wide policy to ensure children are comfortable and ready to learn. Jumpers and polo shirts do not need to have the Kirkshaws badge on them. They can be plain navy, yellow/gold or white.
Our school colours are navy blue and gold and these are the colours children should wear to school. Some children are wearing smart school clothes in grey and black which is absolutely fine for the moment as I would never expect any parent to go out and replace uniform.
However, as the year goes on, I will continue to issue reminders that the trousers, skirts, pinafores, joggers, leggings etc. should be navy. My hope is that by next August everyone will be wearing only navy as their uniform.
The reason I brought it up at assembly is due to some children coming to school on various days of the week not in any uniform or wearing brightly coloured hoodies or other jumpers. I know these children have uniform as they wear it on other days.
Children will be asked to remove non-uniform jumpers in class but are welcome to wear these in the playground as warm layers.
School PE kit can be worn to school on PE days, but children should not wear sports clothes in colours other than the school colours and these should not have prints or large logos on them. Crocs should not be worn to school.
The following link will take you to the uniform page on our school website.
