Mrs N’s Notes, 29.1.21

Week 3 of Remote Learning complete!  Thank you for your continued support.  We are delighted at how well our pupils have adapted to our new, temporary method of schooling and we know that is due to all the support they are receiving at home.  While much of our communication needs to take place using Microsoft Teams, we would continue to remind you that we do not expect pupils to be sitting at a screen for prolonged periods of time.  Please take time to enjoy regular, family time together away from a screen too.  Your health and wellbeing remains our priority.

SCOTTISH FOCUS

We hope you have enjoyed our Scottish focus this month.  I have certainly enjoyed the various performances I have seen appearing on Teams over recent weeks.  If we had been in the building, next week would have been our Scottish Performance Assembly.  In typical Kirkshaws fashion, we are not going to be stopped by a Lockdown!  If any pupils would like to be included in a wee feature video celebrating all things Scottish, this is your chance!  Any videos featuring Scottish poetry, song or dance uploaded to class Teams channels between Monday to Friday next week will be compiled into a wee flavour of Scotland video Mr Sharp will put together next weekend. So look out your tartan scarf and get practising, if you want to be included. Please note, videos already uploaded will not be included as some families may not want these shared widely.  If you want to be involved you must post your video in Teams NEXT WEEK (1-5 Feb).

READING BOOKS

In order to ensure we are best meeting the needs of our learners we are providing reading books for each class and a lending library in the nursery.  This has been fully risk assessed and all books have been quarantined beforehand.   Many families have already picked up books, but there is still time to do so if you haven’t managed yet.  Please call at the school office or nursery door between 9.30 & 11.30am or 1.30 and 2.30pm any day next week.

KEEPING IN TOUCH

We are working hard to stay connected, even though we are so far apart right now.  Please make use of Teams and/or email to share learning, ask questions and allow your children to keep in touch with their classmates and teachers.  We are exploring new ways of giving feedback to children on their learning and we’ll be rolling this out across the school over coming weeks.

PARENT PORTAL

Expect an email on Monday, explaining a new tool parents can use.  Full details will be included in the email.

Now….after a very busy week, I think we all deserve a few days off.  Looking forward to seeing you all at assembly on Monday morning at 9.30am as usual.
