Mrs N’s Notes, 27 March 2020

Dear Parents,

As we finish week one of home learning, we are all finding things we need to change and refine.

We, the staff, know we are missing our daily contact with all of you and we can only imagine how this is affecting our pupils too.  On Friday we sent out our first video Tweet, speaking directly to the boys and girls.  Going forward, we intend to do this twice each week, with a nursery message on a Friday at midday and a school message at the same time on a Monday. We hope that this will help those of our pupils who are worried or feeling that they are missing out on school just now.  Please feel free to send us back replies; messages, photos, etc.

As already explained, we will send out learning plans for each class via the app and website each Sunday night, to allow you to plan your week ahead.  As you know by now, learning at home is going to look nothing like a school day.  We do not expect your child to be sitting at a desk for hours – they wouldn’t do that in school anyway.  If you can manage one hour of school-based learning each day, you are doing a great job!  The rest of your day can still be structured, but consider all those life skills your child can be learning just now; drawing, painting, singing, dancing, cooking, making puppets from old socks and putting on a wee show for the family, making posters they can photograph and send to family members to cheer them up, playing board games, changing their bed – I’m sure you have many more ideas yourself!

As we go into the next week we are looking at other ways to keep in touch.  Please remember if you need anything, use our Glow email addresses to contact any one of the Management Team. If you need to speak to someone, whether this be about school work or not, please send us an email with your phone number and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

These are strange days, but together we will get through them.  We are committed to working together any way we can.

Mrs N
