Mrs N’s Notes ~ 28th Sept
Another busy week behind us, with challenges and problems faced…but team work and solutions found!
We are continually looking to develop our Core Values of Respect, Friendship, Trust, Honesty and Resilience in school. Of these, Resilience is probably one of the hardest to ‘teach’. In Kirkshaws we do not expect everyone to get everything right first time. As our wall display says: Mistakes in our school are EXPECTED, RESPECTED, INSPECTED and CORRECTED. And that is how resilience is built over time. We do not expect people to put up with situations that are impossible, but through a supportive environment we will demonstrate to our young people how to persevere and overcome a challenge. As we move through the new session I am delighted at how this quality is being developed in class and around school. It was a pleasure to give out Values certificates on Friday, including those for Resilience.
At home please keep this in mind as you tackle homework tasks together. Don’t panic over mistakes – that’s how we learn.
