Mrs N’s Notes, 13.1.23
Happy New Year from everyone in Kirkshaws!
Looking ahead to next week, we will be working from Week 2 menus.
Please remember that pupils who pay for lunches should have money added to their card BEFORE they order a lunch. As always, we will never let a child go hungry, however some families are running up a considerable bill with our catering staff and this needs to be paid off as soon as possible. Thank you.
P.1 REGISTRATION
Next week all pupils planning to start school in August 2023 should be enrolled at their local catchment schools. Please call the school office if you have a child leaving nursery in June and have not yet made an appointment to register. You should bring a copy of your current Council Tax notice and your child’s birth certificate. I look forward to meeting with many of you then. Please pass this information on to friends or neighbours who have a child due to start school after the summer.
SCHOOL HANDBOOK
Our Handbook for 2023 is now available to download or read online.
If you require a paper copy, please call the school office and this can be arranged.
CHS SPORTS LEADERS
We are delighted to welcome some senior pupils from Coatbridge High School to lead PE lessons for the next few weeks. Class teachers will remain with our classes at all times to oversee the lessons, but this is a valuable opportunity for leadership and learning from each other across our cluster. We look forward to further partnership working in the term ahead.
POSSIBLE FURTHER INDUSTRIAL ACTION
At this point, we expect the planned industrial action by the teachers’ unions to go ahead next week. This affects all North Lanarkshire schools on Thursday 19th January. This means we will be closed to ALL pupils in our school and nursery on that day. Should this change, we will notify you immediately.
HEALTH & SAFETY
Please remember that pupils should not wear hooped or dangling earrings to school. Pupils can wear a stud in the lobe of the ear, which should be removed or covered during PE lessons.
Please ensure your child has indoor gym shoes on PE days. We have had some children trying to take part in indoor sports wearing wellies this week, which is not safe for anyone.
As always, as we return to school for a new term, we would ask you to remain vigilant, letting us know if your child has a cough, temperature, head-lice or any other common childhood ailment.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
