Mrs N’s Notes, 27.8.21

Don’t we look smart!  HUGE THANKS to all our families.  You have all gone that extra mile to ensure everyone is beautifully turned out in our school uniform daily.  It is lovely to see all our learners proud to be Kirkshaws Kids.

Please take note of the menus above: both the school menu and that for the nursery’s Loving Lunches.

If your child is at school, please take time to read the menu together and discuss what choices your child would enjoy best.

Remember, your child is also welcome to bring a healthy packed lunch to school.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Thank you for your patience as we work hard to ensure all children enter and leave the school grounds safely.  Please continue to park a short distance from the school gates, easing the congestion on Old Monkland Road.   Please remember that the car park is for STAFF ONLY at all times of the day and cars should not park on the zigzag yellow lines in front of the building.  In line with NLC policy, all adults are asked to physically distance from each other and wear a mask at drop-off and pick-up times, unless you are exempt.

We will continue to allow ONE ADULT to collect P.1 pupils from the infant playground to ensure their safety.

This session we are delighted to be able to allow pupils to bring their own school bags, lunchboxes, pencil cases, etc. to school.   However, we are very mindful that COVID infection rates are rising locally and nationally.  We therefore continue to ask that all non-essential items are left at home.  This includes all toys.  Your child will have the opportunity to use toys and other equipment in school, and these items are cleaned thoroughly after each use, ensuring your child’s safety.

Please remember that pupils who wear earrings are asked to wear a small stud.  Hooped earrings should not be worn in school as they can very easily lead to ear lobes being ripped accidentally.

PE

Our PE timetable is now up and running and it is fantastic to see everyone having fun whilst keeping fit.  We continue to ask that your child comes to school on PE days dressed in their gym kit.  Please remember that our PE kit is also our uniform – school polo-shirt or T-shirt, school sweatshirt and navy (or dark) shorts, leggings, jogging trousers, etc.  You do not need to buy any fancy sports gear to wear in school – in fact we would discourage it.

NURSERY UPDATE

We are delighted to let you know that from Monday our youngest learners will no longer be in ‘bubbles’ during the nursery session.  Following a successful settling in period, all children will now be able to free-flow between both playrooms and our main infant garden.  Drop off and collection points will remain the same, with both the nursery door and garden gate being used.  Please continue to use your same entrance.  Staff will continue to monitor local and national guidance and will inform you if there are any changes.

PARENTAL SURVEY- MAY 2021

PARENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE – MAY 2021 (SIP & PEF)

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to our parental survey last session.  Full responses can be seen here.  These were used to inform our school improvements for the coming year.

Look out for more opportunities to share you views very soon!
