Mrs N’s Notes, 13.8.21

Welcome back to Session 2021/2022.  I hope  you have had a wonderful break.

SCHOOL MEALS: BREAKFAST CLUB & LUNCHES

Breakfast Club will open at the usual time of 8.15am on Monday.  Mrs Dillon will open the gate at that time and escort your child into the building.  Mrs Stewart continues to supervise the Breakfast Club.  There is no need to pre-book a space.

Please see our menus for next week above (Top-nursery, school below).  As before, all P.1-3 pupils can be provided with a free school meal if they order one in the morning.  In addition this year, this offer has been widened to include Primary 4 pupils too.  Pupils from P.5-7 are still required to  pay for a school lunch, unless you have applied for free school meals.  Please click here to visit the Council website if you believe you could be eligible for this.  Please continue to apply for Clothing Grants if you are eligible by visiting the same site.

Packed lunches can also be brought to school.  Pupils are free to bring their own lunch boxes.  Packed lunches will be eaten in the dinner hall.

STAGGERED TIMES

In June we provided all families with the relevant start and stop times for your child’s class.  These remain the same as we return to school.

An email containing this information was sent to all families yesterday.

PARENTS IN SCHOOL

We return to school with the same safety measures in place as when we finished in June.  School pupils will continue to use the two gates on Old Monkland Road, with only Nursery families making use of the back lane.  No adults are allowed on-site, except by a prior appointment.

The exception to this will be Primary 1 parents.  ONE ADULT will be allowed to drop a P.1 pupil off in the playground from 9.30am on Monday and Tuesday.  No adults from home will be allowed in the classroom.   ONE Primary 1 parent/carer will also be permitted to collect your child from the playground at the end of the day.  All other pupils will be escorted to the gate by their teacher at home time

All adults are asked to continue to wear face coverings when dropping children off or collecting them, even if you are not entering the building.

PE

PE times will be confirmed at the end of next week. No pupils will require to wear PE kit next week.

CLOTHING & RESOURCES

We encourage all pupils to wear school uniform.  We have a number of pre-loved items of clothing in school if you need some help with this.  Please ask the school office if you require a uniform.

Pupils can bring school bags and pencil cases to school now.  As always, mobile phones are not encouraged and must be switched off during the school day.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO LABEL EVERYTHING WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME.

NURSERY

Please remember to provide your child with a full change of clothes and indoor shoes.  These should be brought to nursery in a bag which can be taken home at the end of the day.

We also appreciate all weekly donations made to our Nursery Jellybean Man.  If you are not sure how this works, ask a member of staff next week.

Click here to visit the NLC website where you will find more information around the latest guidance relating to our return to school.

Have a lovely weekend and I’ll see you all bright and early on Monday!

  1. Zone 1 was a nightmare again yesterday with the amount of people waiting on the classes coming out. Many of us are collecting children from the back nursery entrance and then having to bring that child along to collect a child from the front. It’s already congested enough.
In my opinion it would make much more sense to allow the kids out the back gate who have a sibling being collected from nursery and keeping the kids with no nursery siblings to the front of the school.

    1. If you contact the school office a member of the management team can discuss your concerns.

  2. Due to staggered times a have 3 kids at school with different times which is difficult as they are all different zones. Parents with siblings should be allowed same start and finish times as I know this is getting done in other schools. Would be much more easier for the kids and parents.

    1. Can you telephone the school and a plan will be put in place to suit your needs?
