Mrs N’s Notes, 18.6.21

Please see the menus above which will operate on Mon-Wed next week.  On Thursday pupils in school can purchase a pack-a-snack, but there will be no hot meals on offer.

SCHOOL MEALS

If your child is in P.7 please ensure there are funds available on their lunch card to cover any meals they will wish to purchase next week.  When your child leaves Kirkshaws this lunch account will close and they will start a new one at high school.  Please check your balance on their account.  Should you require a refund, this can be arranged with Mrs Patterson our Catering Manager next week.

THURSDAY 24TH JUNE – SCHOOL ARRANGEMENTS ONLY

For those pupils who normally finish at 2.50pm, they will finish next Thursday at 12.50pm.  All other pupils will finish at 1.00pm.  They will be dismissed from their normal gates.  Adults are asked to distance if waiting at the gates.  As always, Room 2 will be dismissed immediately before Rooms 3 & 4 to help things flow at the infant gate.

Pupils should bring a packed lunch or order a pack-a-snack from the dinner hall.  Some pupils may wish to wait until they go home before having lunch.  This is fine too.

Nursery hours will operate as normal, although we understand that some parents and carers will want to collect younger siblings at the same time and this can be arranged by speaking to the nursery staff directly.

NEW CLASSES

Class letters were issued today to those in the school.  For children in our nursery, these will be given out on Monday or posted home if you do not attend Kirkshaws.  We are still awaiting confirmation of staffing, so P.6/5 do not know their teacher yet.  We will share this information with you as soon as we have it available.

Please click the link below to visit our virtual school and nursery tour, which will introduce you to each teacher in turn.

STAFFING CHANGES

It is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to two teachers who have worked in Kirkshaws for many many years.  Next week we will see Mrs Begley and Mrs McNamara retiring.  Mrs McNamara has been a teacher in our school since 1986, with Mrs Begley joining her in 1994!   Although we will miss them terribly, we wish them a long and happy retirement, spending more time with their families.

We also bid farewell to Mrs Corbett in our nursery who is heading off to university to train to become a teacher.  We know she will be fabulous in her new role and hope she gets the chance to come back and work at Kirkshaws at some point in the future.

P.7 LEAVERS

We were very proud of each of our P.7 pupils today as they had their Leavers’ Assembly.  This was recorded and Mr Sharp is currently working his socks off to edit it!  The link will be with you as soon as possible…thanks to Mr Sharp!

Next week our P.7s will enjoy some fun and games as we get ready to say goodbye.  We expect the Senior Management Team from Coatbridge High to visit on Tuesday morning (so we’ll be on our best behaviour for that) but apart from that I believe we are set for loads of laughs, messy games…and maybe a pizza or two!! 😉

NURSERY GRADUATION

Our youngest learners will celebrate their Graduation on Monday.  We will video the event and share it with you as soon as it is edited.  This will be with you as soon as possible; definitely before the end of term.

Let’s hope the sun keeps shining and gives us a chance to relax this weekend as next week is set to be busy too!
