Mrs N’s Notes, 20.11.20

Please take time to discuss the menu for next week with  your child.  Some children need time to consider what they would like best.

CHRISTMAS PLANNING

With Christmas fast approaching, can I remind all families that school and nursery staff do not expect gifts from pupils.  It is our pleasure to teach your children and support your family in any way we can.  Our daily thanks comes from the smiles that greet us each morning and the delight our learners experience as they master new skills.  This is the same EVERY YEAR, but in this very difficult economic climate we urge you to focus on your own family this year when buying gifts.

Christmas celebrations are going to look a little different this year, but plans are well underway to ensure our pupils still enjoy the festive period.  I have been in touch with Santa and he has assured me that he will find time in his busy schedule to visit our P.1 and Nursery pupils.  I’m told he’s getting very good at video calls this year, so we intend to hold a chat with the main man himself on the big screen in the classroom/playroom before meeting him in person – from a distance of course.

All classes are planning their own parties.  These will be held in each classroom, with the pupils planning the games, snacks and music they want for the afternoon.

We have purchased two ‘Live’ performances for all to enjoy.  On Wednesday 16th December we are going to be joining Panto-Live online to enjoy a live performance of Cinderella.  Interactive buttons will allow us to boo, cheer and clap throughout the performance.  We expect to see Christmas jumpers galore that day!  In addition, we have purchased a FunBox performance for our Nursery and Infant children…Oh yes we have!  It’s going to be great!

Obviously our own Christmas Performance is going to look a little different this year.  We are planning a video production including all classes…with some option for family involvement too.  I will update you as soon as plans are finalised.

NURSERY FUNDS

We know how tight budgets are right now, but if you can spare any donations for our Nursery Fund we would be most grateful.  Now our youngest pupils are working full days, we are supplying regular snacks at different points throughout the day.  Your donations allow us to buy cereal, bread, sandwich fillings, crackers, etc.  Every penny goes towards your child.  Many thanks to those parent who contribute weekly.  Please put all donations in an envelope and ask your child to pop it in the postbox in Nursery!

CHRISTMAS LUNCH

Christmas Lunch order forms have been handed out in both the school and nursery.  If you haven’t yet handed it in, Monday is the last chance as Mrs Patterson will be putting her food order in then.  Please remember to check the letter carefully as all classes are not eating on the same day.  In addition, school and nursery menu choices are different too.

PARENTS & CARERS APPOINTMENTS

Teachers are now collating your requests for telephone appointments.  Your child’s teacher will be in touch over the coming week to arrange a time to discuss any concerns that may have arisen over Term 1.
