Lest We Forget!
As you can see, our classes pulled out al the stops this week, with a big focus on Remembrance Day. Many thanks to everyone who donated towards the Poppy Scotland Appeal. The money collected is currently in quarantine, but will be counted next week and I will let you know our final amount then.
IN-SERVICE DAY
Monday 16th November is our staff in-service training day. Pupils should not attend school. School, Nursery and Breakfast Club all open at the usual times on Tuesday 17th November.
PE
In line with changing Scottish Government guidance, schools can now start to introduce indoor PE, following strict risk assessment rules. From next week each class will have an indoor and an outdoor slot each week. If the weather is fine, pupils will still be taken outside as this is the better option. However, with winter fast-approaching, we do not want pupils to miss out on PE lessons due to ice on the ground, etc. Gym days remain the same for each class. Pupils should continue to come to school dressed for outdoor PE on their planned gym days – no change here as far as you are concerned at home.
PARENTS IN PARTNERSHIP
Due to ongoing COVID restrictions, Parents’ Nights cannot go ahead as they usually do. If you are concerned about your child’s progress please email the class teacher by Wednesday of next week to request a telephone appointment. Email addresses can be found on class homework grids. Nursery appointments will also be organised in a similar way over the coming weeks.
ANTI-BULLYING WEEK
Next week we focus on anti-bullying and what that looks like in Kirkshaws. Tuesday will be ODD SOCK DAY to launch our focus week. What will you wear? As always, no pupil needs to take part if they would rather not.
CHRISTMAS DINNER
Christmas Dinner option letters were sent home today. Please read these carefully as different classes are celebrating on different days. These must be returned next week to allow Mrs Patterson to place her food orders in time.
