Mrs N’s Notes ~ 14th September

Maths Week Scotland certainly caught the imagination of Kirkshaws learners this week.  As well as all our regular Maths, we had a special focus on Symmetry over the past few days. I was very impressed with the symmetry in art, in lego, using 3D materials…the list goes on!  From our youngest learners in the Nursery, through to Primary 7, I have been most impressed with the effort shown.  Huge thank must go to all our teachers for their imaginative planning too!

Our P.7 transition events also kicked off this week, with a visit to the PE department of Coatbridge High School.  Senior pupils there led the learning and our children came back enthused and ready for the next visit!  I attended a meeting in the high school later in the week and I can assure them there will be MANY MORE OPPORTUNITIES to get to know the building and the staff before the summer comes around again.

Our Junior Road Safety Officers took part in their training this week too. Miss McIntyre was most impressed with the effort she saw at the event in Motherwell.  It is now over to them to see what exciting events they plan for us this session.

Bikeability 1 training finished, with a request to complete Bikeability 2!  I am currently in discussions to see if that will be possible before the winter sets in fully!

At our Assembly on Friday we looked at Love.  No matter what part you play in the Kirkshaws Team, you are LOVED!  Through some fabulous drama presentations, I hope our pupils have left at the end of the week with that message firmly in their heads. And as you move into the weekend, keep that message with you.  Have a wonderful weekend, but we can’t wait to see you back with us again on Monday.

(Remember it is a four-day week ahead.  School is closed on 21st & 24th Sep. for September Weekend.)
