Mrs N’s Notes 24.5.18

It may have only lasted four days, but last week saw many members of our Kirkshaws family facing personal challenges.

Whether these were built into regular lessons, visits outwith he comfort of school, or major milestones in life, our pupils and parents faced them with the confidence and resilience we encourage within Kirkshaws.  We saw challenges based around STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths), Art & Design and social skills; to name just a few.

By far the biggest of these challenges were the transition events our current P.7 and future P.1 took part in.  We are delighted to report that everyone gave it their all and had a fabulous time in their new school setting.  The pupils who visited Coatbridge High School had the chance to follow a high school timetable for two days, meeting staff and fellow pupils as they took part in lessons in a range of departments.  As always, we had glowing reports from the high school staff.  We didn’t expect anything less.  Meanwhile, our new intake of P.1 pupils and their parents had the chance to visit the infant classes and find out what life at Kirkshaws is all about.  Once again, it was smiles all around as everyone worked together on the tasks planned by the staff.  Remember, we have another induction visit planned for our new P.1 pupils on the morning of 7th June, when they will be invited to stay for lunch.  Please hand your lunch order into the nursery staff or school office before that date.

I hope you have all had the chance to enjoy this lovely weather.  Let’s hope it sticks around for a little while longer!
