Mrs N’s Notes

This week, I couldn’t help but be amazed at the amount of SHARING that has gone on in our busy school.

Transition events continue, allowing staff from nurseries and high schools to talk to Kirkshaws staff to ensure the smoothest of transitions for our children.  There is also the opportunity for our pupils to share their likes and worries to put their minds at rest.  This week we had staff from Coatbridge High School in once again.  They were also very kind in sharing resources with me!  We have been allowed to borrow a new Resilience training film which I look forward to sharing with staff and parents in the near future.

We also had the chance to share in a joint reward.  Most pupils reached SILVER on our Go For Gold pathway, allowing us to have the treat of your choice.  A movie afternoon, with juice and popcorn went down a treat!

But with all the Easter celebrations this week, we have had a perfect opportunity to share in laughter, joy and share our talents too.  We sent 3 groups of learners from the school and nursery to visit our friends in St James’ Way.  What a fabulous opportunity to share Easter Treats as well as a song or two.  Thank you to everyone at St James’ Way for everything they have done for us this week!

And then came our shared Easter Celebration, complete with Bonnets and Eggs.  Wow!  I still can’t believe the wealth of artistic talent we have here at Kirkshaws.  Take a moment to look at this slideshow – it will take your breath away.  You’ll also notice a sea of blue clothing and accessories on display today.  That is because we were raising awareness of Autism.  Mrs McGarry was at a conference yesterday (yes, teachers have learning days too!) and she has brought back lots of information for us to take forward as a school.  So, today was a chance for her to start sharing her new knowledge.  We look forward to welcoming some more visitors exploring this topic in the new term.

All that’s left for me to say is, have a fabulous holiday.  Stay safe and we’ll see you back in school and nursery on Monday 16th April at the normal times.  Thank you for all the effort you have demonstrated this term…but we’re not finished yet!

HAPPY EASTER!
