Homework week beginning 22nd September 

You can find the homework for this week below. Homework will be collected on Thursday. 

Primary 5 pupils must wear a yellow top with navy or black bottoms to school on a Tuesday for swimming. This is the school PE uniform required for all pupils. 

Red 

Spelling rule – sh is ci with root. 

music – musician  

space – spacious 

finance – financial 

electric – electrician 

magic – magician  

  • Read chapter 9 from ‘Kaspar the Prince of Cats’ aloud with an adult at home. 
  • Write five sentences containing your spelling rule words. 

Blue 

Phoneme sound consolidation – ie (field, shield, chief, etc), oe (toe, potatoes, poem, etc), ough (thought, cough, bought, etc.) 

Common words consolidation – begin, follow, often, letter, woman, write, answer, began, heat, page, walk, answer, picture, once, until. 

  • Read some of chapter 9 from ‘Kaspar the Prince of Cats’ aloud with an adult at home. 
  • Play some active spelling games using your phoneme words and common words (hang man, text detective, create a word search, etc). Pupils will know the kind of games to play to practise their spelling words. 

Green  

Phoneme sound – au (haunted, pause, cause, etc.) 

Common words – keep, because, week, when. 

  • Read the first chapter of your book aloud with an adult. 
  • Write down as many words you can think of containing your phoneme sound. 
  • Write three sentences containing your common words.

  • Read chapter 8 from ‘Kaspar the Prince of Cats’ aloud with an adult at home. 
  • Write five sentences containing your common words. 

Blue 

Phoneme sound – ough (thought, cough, bought, etc.) 

Common words – walk, answer, picture, once, until. 

  • Read some of chapter 8 from ‘Kaspar the Prince of Cats’ aloud with an adult at home. 
  • Write down as many words you can think of containing your phoneme sound. 
  • Write three sentences containing your common words. 

Green  

Phoneme sound – oi (coin, foil, moist, etc.) 

Common words – their, some, them, last. 

  • Read a book of your own choice aloud with an adult at home. 
  • Write down as many words you can think of containing your phoneme sound. 
  • Write three sentences containing your common words.
