Spelling
Red – phoneme family: ch, tch, t.
charge, change, challenge, kitchen, sketch, butcher, watch, picture, creature, signature.
- Create a phoneme chart with 5 words under each phoneme sound.
Blue – phoneme family: a-e, ay, ai, ey, ea
chocolate, amazed, birthday, yesterday, complain, downstairs, money, turkey, great.
- Create a phoneme chart with 5 words under each phoneme sound.
Green – phoneme sound: wr – write, wrong, wrestling, wrist, wrote, wriggle.
Common words: gave, family, how, might.
- Practise writing your common words by writing some fun spelling (rainbow, pyramid, etc).
- Write 3 sentences containing words from your phoneme sound.
Reading
Rubies- Read chapters 3 and 4 of the Demon Headmaster.
Sapphires- Read chapters 3 and 4 of the Butterfly Lion.
Emeralds- Read chapters 1-4 of Poppet aloud with an adult at home.
Numeracy
We are focusing on money right now in class. When shopping, can you encourage your child to estimate the total of the shopping by rounding the total of each item and adding them together mentally. This will allow them to have a real life experience showing why this is important.
