Primary 5/6

Primary 5/6 have been working well in their new class, and they have really given their new teacher a warm welcome to the school!

The children have been reading and discussing various books such as the Roald Dahl novels, and they are doing very well with their learning about reading  comprehension and spelling strategies.

In Maths they have been challenging themselves well with lots of place value and times tables activities, and they have been impressing us with their Number Talks skills. They really like taking part in the competitive fitness games which they have been doing in PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the Primary 5’s have been enjoying their swimming lessons every week.

We will keep working hard and update you soon with photos and more information about our learning.

Thanks

Primary 1 – August

What a month! Primary 1 have been working really hard to learn our new school routines and are settling into Holy Family primary really well. We are enjoying making new friends and learning lots of new things. We have been working hard on our numbers and sounds and really enjoyed making sets of 2 and sets of 3.

Of course, our favourite time of the week is golden time!

Congratulations to this months star writers Asmara, Callum, Ethan, Nisha and Zara! Congratulations also to our merit winners Leo, Aoife, Nisha and Ethan….well done!

Well done to all the boys and girls on completing their first few weeks in Primary school. You have all done so well and I am so very proud of you all!

Primary 6/7a back to school

Primary 6/7a are settling into their new class very well. The primary 7’s are enjoying being buddies to our new Primary 1 children and are taking on the responsibility of class monitoring. The Primary 6’s are enjoying their new responsibilities too and are being great role models to our younger children.

In class we have been learning about place value and working really hard to practise and learn our times tables. We have started a class novel called The Eleventh Orphan which is set in the Victorian era. This book helps us learn more about our topic The Victorians and we are looking forward to learning more about the lives of people in the past.

Homework will be handed out weekly on a Monday and should be brought back on a Friday. Please ensure children are practising times tables and spelling words at home.

Thanks
