As well as working hard in Literacy and Maths every day, Primary 3/2 have been learning how to prepare different foods. So far they have made popcorn, mini pizzas, stewed apples and potato scones. The children have really enjoyed putting their skills to good use and having tasty treats!
The children are doing ball skills and playground games in PE and continue to work on listening carefully to follow instructions accurately.
Here’s what some of our learners had to say:
Brendan – I loved minibeasts – animals like worms and butterflies, caterpillars and stuff. We did it with Miss Gallagher up in the science room.
Chizzy – we just started Space with Miss Gallagher.
Zain – We’re doing Space again.
Brendan – I think there’s 62 moons on Venus.
Nieve – camouflaging butterflies – colour them in. Bright and colourful. They can camouflage so the birds won’t eat them.
Brendan – in trees.
Nieve – in leaves. They look like they have 4 wings.
Chizzy – moths looks scary. They have eyes to scare away predators and to look like a much bigger and stronger animal like an owl. *Mrs Cooney – brilliant!*
Brendan – catch butterflies in nets. Went outside to find butterflies and minibeasts. Lots of wasps.
Brendan – 3 plus 2 and then you add on the 10 (3 steps x add x add x) Some games are up to 1000. Number counters – what is in between 55 and 57. The number after and before. The bear on TopMarks – you give it cupcakes so like 2+6 and you give it 8. We changed the big 100 square in class so it goes the other way – numbers go up instead of down.
Zain – Basketball Games on TopMarks
Nieve – TopMarks Robot Addition
Chizzy – up to 999. Before and after numbers. The big number square.
Brendan ICT room – logged in and logged out.
Zain – playroom played in there and then went back to the ICT room with Miss Gallagher.
Chizzy – We made something a few weeks ago with Mrs Daisley
We made these apple things. We had to take all of the skin and cooked it. Cored it.
Zain – we made pizza in the playroom!
Brendan – and we made potato scones and they were delicious!
Nieve – In the playroom we made popcorn. Zain and Eesa missed out.
Brendan – we got sugar and the sugar was the best part!
Brendan – really liked reading Pete Little and House-hunting . We each read a different part Baby Bear, Mummy Bear and Daddy Bear.
Grannie Mainland wrote.
Zain – really liked reading the Bears and the Honey
Granny Island visited.
Nieve – favourite reading book was The Flying Fish because the little boy didn’t have a kite and his dad made one for him. I think my uncle would be able to make me one because he is good at fixing things.
Remember if you have achievements from outside of school, we’d love to celebrate your success with you – bring in your trophies, medals, certificates etc just like these brilliant pupils did:
