Here are some of our February Star Writers
Our Last February Library Visit
P1/2 really enjoyed their walk to the Library this month. The children noticed that the weather has started to change and also that the buds and leaves were beginning to appear on some of the trees.
When the children arrived they returned their books and headed for the special spot where the children books are. Our lovely librarian Bernadette joined us, reading some great stories that the children loved. Then afterwards they really enjoyed a favourite game called Book Bingo.
After this they got to choose a new book and took it to the librarian to be stamped and to take home. The had a terrific time.
Here is a little picture story of their visit.
Numeracy – Time, Music and IDL
With Miss Stevens the children have not only been learning about the days of the week and months of the year etc., but also about Morning, Noon, Afternoon Evening and Midnight. They have been learning about The hour, half past the hour etc. Analogue and Digital time and have also been learning about time through song and have even got to make their very own clocks! My goodness P1/2 you have been very busy indeed.
H&WB – Gymnastics
As part of Health and Wellbeing in Gymnastics, the children have revisited Safety, as well as thinking about being Active, Respected and Responsible’ in Term 2. They have thought about the rules they should follow to show respect, be active, and take responsibility for their own behaviour. E.g in turn taking, being kind and following instructions. This will help them enjoy and have fun learning about Gymnastics.
The children with Miss Stevens enjoying their ‘Dinosaur’ Gymnastic Warm up!
Topic – Dinosaurs
The children have enjoyed their dinosaur topic very much and have particularly enjoyed doing there very own research at home and bringing in their information to share with the class. The children have also had fun with their learning in school, e.g. Making their class dinosaur cave, Making musical stories and being dinosaurs. while also enjoying the challenges and tasks they have been set.
R.E. My Uniqueness, Art and IDL
With Miss Steven The children have been thinking about and learning how very unique they are. That we are all different and how fantastic this is. Together the children have made self portraits using paper plates and a variety of media. (Pics to come)
Fairtrade Fortnight and Fairtrade Thursday
P1/2 really enjoyed making Fairtrade Bunting and also made Fairtrade Fortnight posters as part of their taught writing lesson. They had so much fun participating in all the fantastic activities Mrs Cooney, Miss Daisley and P4/5 had arranged for them and the rest of the school.
Thank you so much everyone we had a terrific time.
