P1b ‘Play Maths’

This afternoon P1b were consolidating some of the maths concepts we have been learning in the past few weeks. We were investigating 3D shapes, directing the Beebots using positional language and playing many different addition games. During ‘play maths’ the children are given the choice of visiting any station they wish within the hour, as long as they visit them all at least once! We LOVE it!

P2 Water Cycle Wind Socks

In P2, we consolidated our learning about the Water Cycle by creating some lovely wind sock decorations to blow in the breeze. The wind socks have a diagram of the Water Cycle on it. We had to write on the vocabulary that we learned.

“I know Precipitation means rain” – Stephanie Gibb.

“I learned that some of the water goes underground and other water makes its way back to the sea” – Chloe McGiff.

Blubber Experiment

This afternoon P4/5 had great fun carrying out some science experiments.  We were investigating the effects of animals in the Arctic and Antarctica having blubber. We learned what blubber is and how it keeps the animals warm in the freezing conditions.

We we used timers and thermometers to see how long we could keep our bare hands in ice cold water and then how long we could keep them in using blubber mitts!

We could keep our hands in the ice cold water much longer using the blubber mitts so our hypothesis was correct!

Burns’ Supper

Primary 6 where very busy in class learning all about Robert Burns in preparation for our burns supper which was on Thursday the 21st of January.  Everyone who came had an excellent time.  It was a night to remember!

We learned about all different types of tartan and made our own design of tartan, and we also found out that people in our class have their own family tartan.

We learned the meanings some of the Scots dialect  that was heard at the burns supper during some of our poems and songs.

Recently  we drew some charcoal drawing of Robert burns, it got messy and there was charcoal everywhere but we still had fun doing it.

Half of the primary six class made haggis, neaps and tatties while the other half of the class made invitations and posters for our Burns Supper. After we made the food the whole class got to try a bit some people didn’t want to because they thought that they might not like it but after a little taste of the food everyone loved it

We all had fun with our Burns’ Supper and are looking forward to our next topic which is Scotland’s Time Lords.
