Primary Four

The pupils in P4 have recently been studying The Ancient Egyptians. We have been researching and finding out about many aspects of this fasinating ancient civilisation. The children in Primary Four made a fantastic effort both in class and at home, producing some amazing topic homework! Well done to all involved.

We were lucky to have had the opportunity to attend ‘Heroes and Villains’ musical workshop in the Royal Concert Hall on Tuesday.  Primary four pupils then took part in a follow up workshop in school on Friday morning.  We had great fun making our own music with household items!

P4 children proved to be a whizz in the kitchen using vegetables grown in our own school gardens to make a delicious Spanish Torteilla.

Celebrating Robert Burns

The pupils in primary six have been working very hard for the past few  weeks learning all about Robert Burns and the traditions of a Burns’ Supper.   All that hard work was displayed on Thursday night when they held their very own Burns’ Supper for their families, teachers and invited guests.   The pupils delivered a professional event with confidence, humour and excellent behaviour. They all worked very hard preparing for this in school and also at home with the help of their family members.

A great time was had by all!

Primary Six In The Kitchen!

Primary six pupils have been busy harvesting and cooking with the fantastic produce from our school gardens.  The pupils made three different dishes using our home grown vegetables.  They produced delicious couscous with courgette and onions and honey glazed carrots with beetroot.   The most popular of all were the potato scones!

P6 Open Morning

Primary six pupils were delighted to welcome parents and grandparents into our classroom on Friday morning.  Pupils have been learning about the scientific understanding of the Earth’s evolution.  As part of this topic we looked at natural disasters including volcanic eruptions.  Pupils carried out a practical investigation to find out which elements would react together to re-create a volcanic eruption.  We mixed bicarbonate of soda with vinegar (and a little red chalk to represent the colour of lava).

Glenmanor Garden Committee

Garden birds need extra help at this time of year as food can be hard to find in the winter months.  When the temperature drops, birds need food that is high in fat, sugar and energy to help keep them warm. You can make them a winter feast by mixing lard, seeds, cereals and dried fruits.  Our Garden Committee were busy this week making fat cakes for the birds in our school gardens.
