We have been working really hard on our maths tasks linked to Expressions and Equations. We have been finding out how to use the symbols for greater than and less than when comparing two numbers. Some of the children have been learning how to solve simple equations by working out the value of a letter, such as n or x. Some examples of these equations:
n +6 = 15 so n = 9 73 – n = 49 so n = 24
We also designed our own Expressions and Equations posters to help us to remember the symbols.
This week we will be learning about fractions. Have a go at some of these games to help your understanding.
Well done to everyone that completed the mile challenge and assault course. £604.75 was raised through donations, ‘The Great Glen Bake Off’ and sale of sports bands. Many thanks to all parents/ carers that supported this cause.

Friday 18 March from 11.00am to 5.00pm the ‘Hidden Gardens’ will be working alongside some of our pupils to begin the clear up of our gardens in preparation for our planting and growing. If you can spare an hour or so please come along. Help us to improve your child’s learning environment.
Some children in Primary 2 have been asking for a copy of the Fairtrade Muffin recipe that we used on Wednesday. Here it is if any keen parents want to have a go! Remember to make sure you use Fairtrade ingredients where possible!
Primary 3 are learning about classes of animals. The children had fun grouping different animals into reptiles, mammals, birds, amphibians, insects and fish. They worked so well together and used their previous knowledge to help them. Well done!
Primary 3 were the first winners of Fruity Friday. We brought in the most healthy snacks for the month of February. We enjoyed preparing and eating a variety of different fruits. We had bananas, grapes, strawberries, blueberries and tangerines. Some children tried fruit that they had never eaten before. Primary 3 had a lovely time in the kitchen.
Drag the digital time to the analogue clocks. This game is not tablet/iPad friendly. If you are looking for telling the time apps there is lots of free apps. ‘Telling Time Quiz’ is a good app but it costs 79p.
This week p1b have been very busy creating some finger paint flowers for our art exhibition! We can’t wait for you all to see the finished product. Here is a little sneak peak….
