Today our group began the task of creating our display to let others know what we do during leadership time. We made display lettering from recycled rubbish and began painting the background of our design. Stay tuned to see how it turns out!

Focus on Food / Fairtrade Group
Today was our first meeting of the Focus on Food / Fairtrade Leadership committee group. We had a group discussion about what we want the group to achieve this year and voted for 3 aims for the year. Some children researched fairtrade snacks for a possible Fairtrade tuckshop while others created a ‘Courgette Loaf Cake’ using produce from our garden in the Learning Kitchen. We can’t wait until our next session!
Class Pictures – Missed Classes
The photographer was able to take all individual and family group photographs on Tuesday (20/9/16).
Unfortunately, P3, P4. P4/5, P5/6 and P6 did not receive their class photo. The photographer will be in school to take these pictures tomorrow (22/9/16).
Phases of the moon
As part of our Space topic, P4/5 were learning about the different phases of the moon. We watched a video, carried out some research and even played a game using Oreo biscuits. The boys and girls will be keeping their eyes peeled to see which phase of the moon is in the sky tonight!
P4/5 are out of this world
p4/5 have been busy researching and enjoying their new topic, Space. We have learned about the planets, researched interesting facts about them and created some beautiful artwork. Today we were using marbling paints to create some large planets to display in our class.
We also created posters to share our knowledge on planets.
Our classroom is is starting to look out of this world!
P4/5 in the garden
P4/5 were out in the garden today helping to get it back in shape for a new term.
Place Value in P4/5
We looked at place value in numeracy today. We had great fun using ICT and some games to help us learn.
P4 Girls’ Festival
Our first event organised by Active Schools will soon be upon us! Girls in Primary 4 will be given the opportunity to attend the girls festival on the 15 September where they will have the opportunity to try out a range of sports. We hope to hold a lunchtime club for the few weeks before the event to help prepare the girls. Look out for more information in the next couple of weeks.
Measure fun in the kitchen!
P4/5 have been learning about measure this week. We looked at weight and grams and kilograms in class and measured how heavy things were. We then took our knowledge of reading scales to the kitchen where we had to follow recipes to make some cakes!
Media fun in P4/5
We have been learning about different elements of film through a mini topic on media. We will be watching different trailers and finding out about the use of sound and music, colour and light as well as camera angles, setting, storylines and characters.
We started by watching the trailer for the new Beauty and the Beast and taking notes on each of these elements. We also found out about different film genres. Beauty and the Beast is a Fantasy and a Romance.
