Today, Primary 4 celebrated the life of Robert Burns by learning to recite two verses of his famous poem, “To a Mouse” off by heart.
The children added fabulous expression to their voices and afterwards, completed a Metalinguistics task investigating some old Scottish words such as ‘sleekit.’
Great enthusiasm P4!
Today our group began the task of creating our display to let others know what we do during leadership time. We made display lettering from recycled rubbish and began painting the background of our design. Stay tuned to see how it turns out!
Primary 4 children have been working on their drawing skills and the skill of blending using chalk pastels. We used a picture of the famous Eilean Donan castle to help us make our work look realistic.
The boys and girls were working hard today to identify lines of symmetry in shapes and pictures. We learned than some shapes have more than one line of symmetry while others have none at all!
We were delighted to have our local MSP, Fulton MacGregor in school today to present one of our boys with a prize for winning a Christmas card design competition. He received a framed version of his design as well as a cinema ticket and chocolates to enjoy. His design will be used on Fulton’s Christmas cards this year. Well done to this artistic boy!
P4 did some research this afternoon on the lungs. This is in preparation for learning how to write an explanation text tomorrow.
Today, Primary 4 found out all about sugar.
We watched an informative video which told us all about the affect sugar can have on our bodies and learned that growing children should have no more than 16 grams of sugar per day. We thought back to what we had eaten over the past 24 hours and were surprised to discover that many of us were over that limit! Take a look at some of your favourite treats and read the sugar content – you may get a shock!
P4 helped Paula from the Hidden Gardens to tidy parts of the garden today. Everyone showed perseverance and determination to get the job done!
Today, we began our Human Body topic with some very effective Day of the Dead skull artwork.
