Over the last few weeks we have been working hard on developing skills in possession games like netball.. We have been learning how to hold the ball correctly, how to pass it and how to defend our goal. Then we used these skills when participating in several netball competitions with our peers.

Our German Visitor
Frau Kusian works at the Goethe Instituit in Glasgow promoting German language and culture and she came to visit P4 and P4/5 today.
We practised the German we had already learned at school and she also taught us some new words. This picture shows her asking us about the German names for pet animals and wild animals and the sounds they make in German. We are learning about these animals with our German puppets Felix and Franzi.
We sang to her in German and told her how we were feeling.
We had a great time and she said that she did too.
Auf Wiedersehen. Bis bald.

Art From The Garden
Primary 4 Research 1990s
The children have been working extremely hard on researching important events and significant people of the 1990’s. Then they used their information to create group posters about the World Cup, Princess Diana, the Channel Tunnel, the Internet and Hurricane Andrew. They have also brought in a variety of toys, games, DVD’s and videos of that era.
Primary 4 – 1990’s Topic – Expressive Arts
The children really enjoyed researching the ‘Pop Art’ style invented by the famous American artist Andy Warhol. Then they looked at iconic computer games characters of the 1990’s, such as Mario Brothers and Sonic the Hedgehog. Finally, they used the unique features of pop art and applied those to their designs, using brightly coloured felt pens and coloured pencils. The final results were amazing!

P4 Girls Festival 17 September 2015
15 of our P4 pupils are looking forward to taking part in the Active Schools Girls Festival 2015 on Thursday morning. They will have the opportunity to try a number of different sports and activities that are also available in the community. The girls will have the opportunity to try activities such as dance, gymnastics, football and marshal arts delivered by local clubs and sports development officers from North Lanarkshire Leisure.
All EV5 permission forms must be signed and returned to school before the festival. Please ensure that your child comes to school dressed for sport and brings a drink and snack. They should change into their school uniform after the festival. Thank you!
Expressive Arts – Choir Singers and Artists

Outstanding art work from P4-7 artists in residence at Glenmanor! They were doing a masterclass on the pop artist Roy Lichtenstein. Fantastic! Next week we will feature our dance group!
