The boys and girls in Primary 2 had a fabulous time in the learning kitchen creating their Ready Steady Cook competition entry.

“Potato, Onion and Tomato Filo Parcels.”
Some children helped to prepare and cook the potatoes, onions, tomatoes and filo pastry while others created a fancy placemat to display the wonderful creation. Mrs Martin came along to judge our recipe and the boys and girls tasted it too!
Primary 2 created great ‘Healthy Packed Lunch’ Posters for a Food Standards Competition. The class discussed what they think makes a healthy lunch and talked about the importance of having a balanced diet.
This afternoon some children from P2, P2/3 and P3 created wonderful, wicked witches using coloured card. The results were fantastic and the children were very proud of their Halloween creations!
P2 have been working hard this week to learn how to round numbers to the nearest 10. They used a magic strategy to help them:
-Look at the number and decide what TENS digits it is between. For example 63 is between 60 and 70.
-Look at the UNITS in the digit.
-If the units are 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 then ROUND UP.
-If the units are 1, 2, 3 or 4 then ROUND DOWN.
This clever cookie had a go at a “Dartboard Rounding” game on the Smarboard.
We also played a rounding game on the I-pads to help us practise!
Here are the Primary 2 Star Writers from the last week of Term 1. They created great recount texts about the school concert. You all look very happy with yourselves, well done!

Primary 2 are finishing off their research topic about the years 2000-2015. We learned that the internet has changed alot over the past 15 years and we need to be clued up on our Internet Safety knowledge!
The boys and girls watched a great cartoon to explain Internet Safety on the smartboard, learned some top tips for surfing the web safely, and created their own advice videos on the i-pads for other children to watch and use.
P2 have been learning about the properties of 3D shapes. They have been working hard to identify and describe some common 3D shapes. Here they are matching their shapes to their names and descriptions.
Today, Primary 1a, 1b, 2, 2/3 and 3 had an exciting visit from the road gritters and had fun learning about what they do and had a chance to sit in the Gritter!
The boys and girls have the opportunity to take part in a colouring competition to name one of the gritters. Good luck!
