Born in the 80’s book!
Addition fun in P4/5
Author Visit to Moodiesburn Library
P4/5, P5 and P6 had great fun this morning on a trip to our local library. We had a special trip to see the author Robert Harris. He read us some of his fantastic books and even got some of us acting out scenes from them.
We were then able to buy one of his books and get it signed by the man himself! Some of us are really looking forward to reading his books and the release of his new book next April!
Dogs Trust
The Best Dog in the World
P4/5 have enjoyed a Literacy modelling block using ‘The Best Dog in the World’ by Sylvia Green. Today we carried out some partner reading to see how the last chapter ended! Did Elliot get to keep Denzil, P4/5?
Born in the 80s!
Through discussions P4/5 found out that a lot of our parents were born in the 80’s. Today we had great fun revisiting famous people born in the 80s although the children were far more excited to investigate which teachers they thought were born in the 80s! Some interesting ideas! We are going to use our information to create a big book – ‘Born in the 80s!’.
We also enjoyed looking at some old Glenmanor photos with some mums and dads in them from the 80s! A big thank you for sending these in!
Ready Steady Gnocchi
P4/5 had a fun filled afternoon knocking up some gnocchi in the kitchen! We made gnocchi with a tomato and onion sauce using the potatoes and onions from our school garden!
We hope Mrs Martin enjoyed it, we certainly did!
Awesome Art by P4/5
We researched the famous pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, who worked through the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. We found out that he painted the famous ‘Expressionist Head’ in 1980 which was then turned into a series of sculptures. We created our own versions.
P4/5 Rounding Fun
We have been learning to round numbers to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000. We had great fun consolidating our learning at different rounding stations.
Follow the link below to have a go playing the rounding game.
