P2 Marvellous Maths

Primary 2 have been busy during maths time this week.

Some children used an interactive SmartBoard Sweet Shop game to add coins to make a total.

Others used play coins and a price list in the class shop. Some children practised their mental addition skills by completing a “Five minute Frenzy” grid while others played maths apps on the i-pads. You have been very focused on your learning, well done P2!

Ready, Steady Cook in P5!

P5 have had a busy morning making cheese and bacon potato skins. First we had to cut cooked potatoes in half, then we had to scoop out the potato and put it into a bowl with some bacon. We mixed the potato and bacon together and used the mix to refill the potato skins. We then sprinkled some cheese on top.

Mrs Martin tasted our potato skins and we got to try them too.

Erin M and most of the class said- “It was so amazing! I will be making these at home!”

Primary 5 would like to say thank you to Mrs Green and Mrs Smith!

Ready Steady Cook Challenge- P3

In the kitchen this morning some children from P3 prepared and made a Moroccan Potato Salad. The children experienced chopping potatoes, cutting parsley and making their own vinaigrette.

Then all the children had a taste and the majority of the children enjoyed the salad but a few children didn’t like the red onion.

Mrs Martin joined us afterwards and had a taste and she was very impressed. She was very surprised to hear that we made our own vinaigrette and she absolutely loved our potato salad.

P2/3 Winter Topic

As part of our winter topic we have been learning about how to stay warm. We all carried out an experiment to see what materials are best at keeping in heat.

We covered 4 beakers with different jackets ( paper towel, t-shirt material, thick wooly sock, bag of cotton wool balls) and also had a beaker with no jacket. Mrs Inglis added hot water, we took the temperature waited 20 minutes and then took the temperature again. We discovered that all the water had got a bit cooler, but the water with the woolly sock jacket and the cotton wool jacket stayed the warmest.

This is just like our big wooly and puffy coats that we wear in cold weather to keep us warm.

Everybody  enjoyed being scientists and filling in our science reports.
