Parent Council Pupil Trust Fund

GHS – Parent Council Pupil Trust Fund

Each year the Parent Council raises funds for Greenfaulds High School in order to purchase resources and equipment for the benefit of all pupils, agreed by the Senior Management Team.

However, the Parent Council is aware that many of our pupils are involved in a great variety of “extra curricular activities” out with the school.  We would like to celebrate these successes and hard work and have therefore agreed to “ring fence” £200 each year.  If you are involved in a sport, music, drama, charitable organisation or youth organisation and are seeking some funding assistance, all pupils are eligible to apply for this fund.

How to apply – firstly, please acknowledge your interest by emailing the Parent Council at ghsparentcouncil@hotmail.com

You may be invited to attend our November meeting to give a short presentation, where you should consider how your application will benefit you, the school and our community.  The Parent Council will then vote on which candidate(s) have been successful to receive a proportion of the fund and you will be advised by mid-December.

The availability of funds for this purpose will be reviewed annually by the GHS Parent Council.

Good luck!

GHS Parent Council

SCHOOL NEWS

Independent Living Skills

Between the 29-31st August, the Support for Learning department took away 11 pupils on an Independent Living Skills residential. The pupils travelled to rural Perthshire and were responsible for the cooking, cleaning, budgeting and leading walks and activities with and without the teachers present. Everyone had a great time and all have returned with a new skill (or 10!)

S4 Core Skills and Achieve

On the 28th August the S4 Core Skills and Achieve classes used the last of their sponsored walk money to fund a trip to Loch Lomond. Here we got to take a boat to the island of Inchailloch where the pupils got to explore the island and learn the history. Pupils got the opportunity to cook on a stove and roast marshmallows on a fire, and the hardy few went paddling in the water. The day ended with an ice-cream or a treat and a wonder around Balmaha.

WOSPEG LIVE

Excellent results for our team at their current heat at the WoSPEG Live Wire Physics Competition. After a very close run competition our team of Dylan Anderson, Jamie Buttenshaw and Michael Ward came 1st in their Heat at UWS (Paisley) this week and have now progressed to the Semifinals in Glasgow Caledonian University in approximately 4 weeks time.

The boys were excellent with not just their Physics questions but also on general knowledge. Fingers crossed for the semifinals!
