Cumbernauld Primary School

Nursery to Primary Transition

Dear Parents and Carers,
I am extremely proud to introduce you to our wonderful Primary 6 pupils. They will be our amazing ‘Primary 7’ next year and they are excited to be role models and Buddies to our new Primary 1 pupils. They have written a lovely letter introducing themselves and telling you and your child a little more about the school and also giving some helpful advice!
Please enjoy reading the attached letter. I know our future Primary 7 pupils will take their responsibility very seriously and show your child respect, care and support.
Just like me, they can’t wait to meet our new pupils.
Kindest regards.
Jenny Hart

Dear Primary 1 Pupil

We are writing this letter as a friendly welcome to our school, Cumbernauld Primary.

We are a fun and active school. We take really good care of all of the children in our school and we look after our environment too. CPS takes part in lots of fundraising events and competitions. You will be able to look forward to Sports Days, Christmas lunch, discos, school trips, breakfast club, Me Time and World Book Day.  You’ll learn about lots of fun topics. Some of our best topics have been; Space, World War Two, The Rainforest, Under the Sea, Egypt and the Olympics.

When you come to school, you will be sorted into a house (Sycamore, Oak, Beech and Hawthorn) and your house will become a family to you. We have fun house events and get to wear our house colours.

You are so lucky because when you start in Primary One, you will have us as your Primary 7 (and we are pretty brilliant!!). We are hoping that we will be able to be your Buddies and guide you through Primary One. There are so many people at the school who are here to help you.

Some advice that we can give you for starting school is; don’t be shy and don’t be scared to make friends, tell the teacher if you’re ever feeling down, respect each other, work hard on the stuff that is tricky, don’t be scared to ask anything and HAVE FUN!

We can’t wait to meet you already!

From,

The Soon-to-be Primary Seven (the best classes in the school!!)
