The Victorians

In class our interesting interdisciplinary is… THE VICTORIANS!!!!!!!!!!

What we have learned

We have learned many things about the victorians, this is some of the interesting things we have learned so far.

*Queen Victoria was on the throne for 63 years and 216 days and was the longest British monarch to be on the throne.
*She mourned for nearly 10 years after her husbands death.
*She wore black a lot since the death of her husband.
*Children had tough jobs and they didn’t get a lot of money for their work.

We wrote dairies and pretended to be a victorian child and we were learning about their jobs and their lifestyle.

We are lucky enough to have organised a class trip to Scotland Street School in Glasgow and we are all looking forward to it, we wonder what it will be like.

What we are looking forward to

We are looking forward to many things in our victorian topic but we are looking forward to going to Scotland Street School and learning what school was like back then the most.

We will keep you up to date on our victorian topic.

  1. Oohhh I think you will find that the Victorian School was VERY different to ours!!

I am looking forward to hearing more about what you learn in this topic… The Victorians started many of our Christmas traditions, wonder if you will find out which ones??

  2. Primary 6 what a fabulous blog entry! You will love Scotland Street school, but make sure you don’t end up wearing a hat in the corner of the room!
The school is a Rennie Mackintosh design, so take some photos for your P6 January project!
