A great week in primary 6

This week in maths we made questionnaires. We got e class and other classes to complete our questionnaire. We had to make good questions; they had to be related to the topic, we had to have a mix of open and closed questions. Some were multiple choice. We put the important questions first. After this we gathered the information and made tally tables. We also made graphs. We can answer a lot of questions from the charts.

We talked about Usain Bolt and his teacher when he was at school. He remembers her and how much she helped him. She was an inspiration. We thought of words to describe her like inspirational, motivating, encouraging, magical, athletic, keen, dedicated, kind and lots more. We enjoyed watching a short video about her and Usain.

Hopscotch came in on Thursday and taught us about the commonwealth. They focused on ways for us to be healthy and keep fit. It was a fun afternoon and the show was very funny.

We completed our batons this week, painting them all ready for sports day next week!

what we have learned

We made carrot and coriander soup on the 22nd of January. To make this soup you need carrots, potatoes and coriander, which is a type of herb. You need water and a vegetable stock cube. We worked with our co-operative learning groups to make this soup. Once the soup was cooked we tried some of it and it was nice.

This week we also made kilts as an art and maths activity. We needed to draw a type of tartan using our parallel and perpendicular lines. It was quite hard at first but then it ws easy once we had practised it. We all enjoyed it. We used our shading skills to shade in the squares.

We also learned about circles that they have a circumference, a radius and a diameter. The circumference measures around the circle, the radius mesures from the middle to the outer side of the circle and the diameter measures from one half of the circle to the other. We found it very interesting and it was fun using the compass.

We learned how to use the compass to make a perfect circle and we made a picture using the circles from the compass. Courtney made a panda and Kayla made a flower.

We are learning songs for the scottish afternoon our songs are loch lomand and highland catherderal. We are also learning a poem called to a mouse by robert burns.

Have a look at our picture gallery to see our kilts and us hard at work making soup!
