Health and Wellbeing

We have been doing a lot of work on Health & Wellbeing this week in P3b. We designed our own PE games and some of us got to show the rest of the class how to play. We also looked at ways we could be active instead of just sitting watching TV or playing computer. Here are some pictures and learner comments.

Group Work

We really enjoyed looking at woodland animal food chains last week and decided to extend our knowledge by trying to create a sea creature food chain in groups. This time we got to work with different people and had to make sure everyone in our group had a job to do.

Maths Week might be over but we have decided we are going to keep up the good work and continue to enjoy fun ways to learn about numbers and beyond!

We have been learning all about Food Chains as part of our Science topic over the last few weeks. Here are some photos of our finished Food Chains that we made in groups. Please read on to find out about some things we have learned.

James – ‘Food chains are a thing that show which animals eat other ones.’

Ewan – ‘A food chain always starts off with the sun and then the grass.’

Roxana – ‘I know an example of a food chain: the sun gives energy to the grass, the rabbit eats the grass and the fox eats the rabbit and the lion eats the fox!’

Liam – ‘There are millions and trillions of different food chains!’

Gracie – ‘The first thing in the food chain gets much more energy.’

Zara – ‘Another example of a food chain is the sun gives the energy to the grass, the grasshopper eats the grass, the frog eats the grasshopper, then the snake eats the frog and the hawk (the predator) eats the snake!’

Jack S – ‘Food webs are lots of different food chains joined together.’

Jay – ‘Food chains always start with plants which are called producers.’

Chryston’s Got Talent

Here are Primary 2/3’s fabulous finalists for Chryston’s Got Talent. Jack sang True Believer and Iona played a rendition of Swan Lake on the piano.

Huge well done to both talented pupils!

It was very difficult for the judges to choose the acts that got through to the final. All pupils were brilliant and worked so hard on their auditions. Well done to all who took part!

Our ‘Eely’ Exciting Outing!

On Tuesday we had to say goodbye to our Elvers as it was time for them to be released into the river. We walked up to the Bothlin Burn with scientists from Glasgow University and we each got to carry our very own eel all the way there in a little tub filled with some of their tank water.

Now our Elvers can grow and grow and eventually become Mature European Eels. Then they can swim back to the Sargasso Sea to lay their eggs and then their babies will make the long journey back to Scotland!

We have had a lot of fun looking after the eels and are sad to see them go. We remembered to thank our scientists and, because we did such a good job looking after the eels, we even got a present from them – a book all about European Eels and their life.
