Successful Learners

Everyone is working hard to develop the skills they need for life and work.  We recognised some of our Successful Learners at our Assembly this week.

Harley P1 – For excellent work in Numeracy and working on addition using numbers 0-10;

Lyle P2 – For successfully completing a sound flower to display words with the phoneme ‘ue’ in them.  He used careful listening to help him complete his task.

Rose P4 – For her excellent research about the Titanic and for remembering to use these facts in her topic work.

Amy P4 – For remembering the main ideas and events from her novel study ‘Titanic:  Death on the Water’ and being able to use them in discussion and her written work.

Rory P6 – For excellent homework of the highest standard, finishing off a website that he wrote from scratch.

James F P7 – For superb homework on his photography project, bringing in the frame and setting up photos in thirds, etc.

Well done to all our Successful Learners!

Health Week 2016

All children had a great week of health promoting activities from Tuesday 31st May to Friday 3rd June.  I’m sure they all enjoyed wearing their sports clothes all week! The activities the children took part in included:- teeth brushing experiments with Charise, cheer-leading with Dominique, first aid with Miss Donald, Cyber bullying with Miss Coyle, Safety in our community with Miss Richardson, healthy cooking with Miss Donald, a visit from our Community police, exercising on the mobile gym and our joint sports morning with Banton.  All lots of fun!

Please watch our slide show of some of the photographs captured that week.

Chapelgreen Elections

Primary six and seven have had a busy and nerve racking morning as today was the day they stood up with their parties and gave a speech on the policies they would like to make in the school. After each party gave their speech the voting commenced with the whole school, staff and pupils, coming to make their vote in the polling station. The results will be announced first thing on Wednesday morning.

Fairyland

We have been creating Fairyland in our classroom.  So far, we have written letters to the Friendly Dragon, we have built a beanstalk and made castles.  We love it when the Dragon writes a letter and leaves it in the D-Mail box.  He leaves us instructions of what to do next.  We are having great fun!

Fossils Investigation

Primary six and seven enjoyed an afternoon of studying a variety of different fossils, some of which had been found in the local area. They used magnifying glasses to inspect the fossils and they drew pictures and took notes on what they could see. Thank you Mr Carter for sharing your knowledge and letting us look at your fossils.
