Fire Safety Talk at Chapelgreen Nursery Class

Our Nursery boys and girls enjoyed their visit from the Fire Brigade when they got to see the Fire Engine and use the hose.  While children were learning about the Fire Service, parents and carers got some great safety advice from the Fire Office.

Keep yourself safe at all times, especially the festive season.  Where possible, smoke outdoors.  Do not leave lots of paper or cards near a cooker.  Put your wrapping paper in the recycling bin away from the house.  Check the lights for your Christmas Tree.  These should not be more than 3 amps.  The higher the amp is, determines how much electricity will flow through it.

Thank you very much for coming along and we hope you found the information to be helpful.

Please have a look at our photographs.

What Christmas Means To Me!

Well done to everyone for making such a great attempt at their homework task.  Ryan, Lea, Jai, Rory, Abi, James, Kathryn and were chosen to represent the school and went to the Revival FM recording studio today to share their thoughts about Christmas.  These will be broadcast throughout December.  So listen out for Chapelgreen Primary!

A Gift from our Harvest Table

After the harvest assembly, Mr Mulholland and Mrs Davidson worked with pupils to make up food bags for the local senior citizens.   Thanks to donations from Tesco, we were able to include fresh fruit and veg.  Selected pupils and adults went into the community to deliver the parcels.  We did our best to include everyone but if you know someone who did not get a parcel that you think should have, please contact the school to let us know and we can update our list. Thank you.

Primary 7 Kilbowie

Primary 7 left for a 5 day trip to a residential outdoor learning centre on 7 Sept.  They developed their problem-solving skills and learned to negotiate during team work through a range of activities such as gorge walking, kayaking, canoeing, abseiling, mountain biking and much more.  They were given a good send off by family and friends.

Community Harvest Assembly

Today we welcomed our family, friends and the community into Chapelgreen to celebrate Harvest.

Our Captains and Vice Captains welcomed our guests at the door and then ushered them into the school hall that had been set up to offer tea, coffee, cream scones, cakes and biscuits.

We were absolutely delighted with the great turn out, including Stuart McDonald MP, Jean Jones, Depute Provost, Doreen Reid (Tesco Business Partner) and Aileen Fleming (Chaplain of KCC).

ipad 061Our raffle created a lot of attention, especially when Mrs J Brown was the winner of the first two prizes!  We waited while Mrs Brown picked out the winner of the hamper which went to Mrs Duncan.  Well done ladies and thank you to everyone for taking part.

Congratulations to all our talented children.  The nursery gave us a very sweet rendition of ‘Dingle-dangle scarecrow’ while Primaries 1-3 shared their learning about vitamins and healthy food using the acrostic ‘Fruit & veg’.  Primaries 4-5 shared their learning about the seasons their birthdays were in and amazingly performed a short music piece with their recorders using only three notes!  Primaries 6-7, performed a drama about what happens when everyone shares the little that they have and combine it to make something for everyone, in this case, soup.  They also gave thanks for the important people in their lives.  Mrs Fleming  talked about the seasons and the changes that take place and gave thanks.

A big thank you to all the staff for their hard work in preparing the children, setting up for this event, and making everyone welcome on the day.  Thank you to everyone for your donations.

Harvest Assembly 5.10.15

We are looking forward to welcoming our family, friends and special visitors to our assembly.  Harvest is a time for giving and sharing with others.  We have been collecting tins and food items for our harvest table.  If you are coming to our assembly, please bring along something to add to what we have.  We will make food parcels and deliver these to our local senior citizens.
