The whole school went up to Black Street to cheer on the Queen’s Commonwealth Baton. We all had flags to wave. We waved flags for India as well as ourselves.

Sports Day
The weather was especially ordered just for the day. Everyone took part and had a great time. All the children and some parents were fully focused on winning points for their house.
Golden Time
The first sunny day for golden time. Who knew a grassy hill could be so much fun.
St. Serf’s Commonwealth Run
The whole school took to Rawyards park this morning to take part in our sponsored run. All of Primary 3/4 managed at least five times round the track, that’s two kilometers, and some did not stop until it was time to come back to school. Well done Primary 3/4.
Hamish
Hamish enjoyed his visit to the wrestling with Callum.
Hamish
Hamish paid a visit to Spain during the long weekend. He even had time to visit some banks to find out about money in Spain because the boys and girls are learning about money in school.
Tesco Visit
We all went to Tesco to find out about where our food comes from. The boys and girls had a great time and would like to thank all the staff who made their visit so interesting and educational. We looked at all the produce, the fish, deli and bakery counters, and we even got to see behind the scenes.
Hamish
Hamish enjoyed his visit with Caitlyn. Some friends came to visit and he even got to go to Caitlyn’s birthday party. I don’t think he got her a present though.
Tesco Football
Arlene will be coming on a Wednesday morning for the next few weeks to help us improve our football skills. We are learning how to control the ball and what part of our foot to use. We are having fun.
Rights Respecting
As part of a whole school project we have been learning about the Rights of the child. We have introduced the children to their rights by helping them to consider the difference between a WANT and a NEED. The basic needs that should be met so children and young people grow up to reach their full potential.
We have learned that along with rights come responsibilities. In Primary 3/4 we have been spending time learning about Article 15 – You have the right to choose your own friends and join or set up groups, as long as it isn’t harmful to others.
We also discussed the right to play. We talked about the types of toys we had to play with and the toys children from other countries had. We then made our own moving butterfly.
