Navigating around Kilbowie

This morning,  group 8  worked with their instructor Jamie on navigation skills. They were shown how to read a map and find various landmarks around the centre. If you look at our picture perhaps you can spot the winning pair! Afterwards the group did some team building and problem solving activities. Everyone enjoyed the session.

Skiing with groups 7&8

Primary 7 had a great time learning how to ski yesterday. The children were so proud of themselves, as they went from bambi, to seasoned pro on the red slope 🙂 lots of happy faces all round albeit a few bruises along the way.

Day 2 – Hill walking and climbing

Today group 6 had a great time hill walking, climbing and rolling down the hills 🙂 The scenery was breathtaking and the children really challenged themselves by climbing some tricky rocks. Even the boys and girls who were a little apprehensive, managed to surprise themselves and ended up having a ball!

Learning logs and scavenger hunt

  P7 have been having a great first night at Kilbowie. We’ve been writing all about our adventures in our log books and taking part in a scavenger hunt, where we had to find objects beginning with letters in the alphabet! We can’t wait to find out what exciting activities tomorrow will bring!

Treasure Hunting in Primary Four!

The boys and girls in Primary 4 took their learning outdoors last week.  They had to use their mental maths skills to solve a range of addition and subtraction problems and then find the answers hidden around the playground.  Each answer contained a letter which the children recorded and used to help them get closer to the treasure.  The children said it was an exciting challenge but harder than they thought.  There were lots of tired

P6 Models

Primary 6 created models of famous French landmarks as part of their homework project. Everyone was impressed with the creative designs and the children have received many compliments since bringing them into school. I enjoyed listening to the children as they explained how they made their models as it showed how much time they had spent on their chosen landmark. I would also like to thank all parents/guardians for their support and encouragement at home. P1, P4 and P6 Newstime

Last Friday, it was the turn of P1, P4 and P6 to present what they have been learning in class. What a wonderful afternoon it was. P7 Maths Challenge

Primary 7 have been having fun with the teachers and S3 pupils from Uddingston Grammar Maths department. They were split into 7 groups and rotated around a variety of different maths challenges.  These challenges included addition/subtraction, multiplication/division, problem solving and model building. Dinosaur Models

This week we finally finished our 3D dinosaur junk models!! We enjoyed showing them off at newstime and some of us were delighted to be taking them home.

Maths Week in Primary 3

The whole school has focused on learning in maths this week. In Primary 3 our focus was problem solving and active maths. Children enjoyed working in trios to solve a puzzle and explain their solution to the class. We had an active maths activities including: Making 3 digit numbers out of play-doh. Making 3 digit numbers on place value boards. Playing number before and number after on snakes and ladders.
