Today primary three enjoyed learning more about the properties of 3D shapes. Children were learning to describe the faces, edges and vertices (corners) of a range of 3D shapes including: cube, cuboid, triangular prism, sphere, cylinder, cone, square based pyramid and triangular based pyramid. Well done to our Christmas card competition winners. Each winner was presented with 6 cards of their design to take home and give to family and friends. The overall winning card was chosen to send to local councillors, schools and friends in the community. Well done boys and girls! After weeks of rehearsals, this week is SHOW week! The boys and girls have worked incredibly hard to learn their lines and put on a great show. Primary 3 have been learning about solids, liquids and gases as part of our science curriculum. Boys and girls learnt how solids, liquids and gases can change from one form to other. Our favourite was learning how chocolate changes from a solid to a liquid, even if it was a little messy. Primary 1 had great fun last week when we started our new Technology topic called Party Hats. Our first task was a really big challenge. We had to make, decorate and size our own hats with no adult help. We could only have help from our friends. This was a really hard challenge but also really fun. On a very cold and frosty Friday morning, primary 3 ventured out into the playground to enjoy some outdoor learning in maths. The boys and girls had a treasure hunt to find 3 digit number cards hidden in our school garden. Can you guess which children collected the most number cards? What an exciting night we had last night! The children had to show great teamwork during the nightline, as they navigated their way through tunnels and trees while blindfolded. Today group 8, had a tough challenge of climbing 135m, but we managed it with smiles on our faces. A very soggy day today with groups 6&7 but that certainly didn’t dampen any spirits! Both groups paddled out to Kerrera Island and took on the role of Bear Grylls. We searched through rock pools for crabs and sea life, then loaded our pockets with weird and wonderful things from the beach.
