This week we finally finished our 3D dinosaur junk models!! We enjoyed showing them off at newstime and some of us were delighted to be taking them home.

The whole school has focused on learning in maths this week. In Primary 3 our focus was problem solving and active maths. Children enjoyed working in trios to solve a puzzle and explain their solution to the class. We had an active maths activities including: Making 3 digit numbers out of play-doh. Making 3 digit numbers on place value boards. Playing number before and number after on snakes and ladders.
This week it was P2, P3, P5 and P7’s newstimes. A great opportunity for the boys and girls to share their learning in class with their parents and the rest of the school. Well done everyone!
This week Primary 3 had great fun during active maths. They learned how to use a range of timers, such as a sand timer, stopwatch and countdown timer to record themselves completing active tasks. As part of our interdisciplinary topic ‘Dinosaurs,’ primary 3 enjoyed making dinosaur patterns using paint. They had to think of what colour and type of dinosaur they needed to make a repeated pattern. Children were able to describe the rule of their pattern and ask each other questions, such as what dinosaur would come next? Over the last two weeks, primary 3 have enjoyed lots of opportunities to learn maths outdoors. Children enjoyed finding repeated patterns around our playground and on our school building. They made repeated patterns using materials from outside, such as leaves, sticks and acorns. Children created questions to ask each other and played a game hiding an object from the pattern and guessing what was missing. It was great fun, even
