Primary 3 really enjoyed the first afternoon of our new science topic, Forces. We learned what a force was and then identified push and pull forces around the school. We were able to use digital technology to record the examples we could find. We are looking forward to exploring how forces can be changed next week.
Primary 3 had a wonderful day visiting Glasgow to finish off our Glasgow in the Past topic. We visited the Riverside Museum, where we found out about how vehicles have changed over the decades. We even explored a Glasgow street from the past and had a wee look oot doon the watter at the River Clyde and famous Glasgow landmarks. The bus driver took us on a tour of Glasgow
This term primary 3 and 4 joined together to enjoy golden time. Each week children can choose from arts and crafts, i-pads, games, library, lego, magnetics or an active activity with Mrs Maitland outside or in the hall. Primary 3 were so excited this week when their Scottish souvenir shop and museum opened for business. Children have enjoyed learning about objects from the past, guessing what they could be and what they were used for and comparing them to objects we have now. Wow what a busy week we had last week! In maths, we have been learning about regular and irregular 2D shapes. We drew them on whiteboards with our partners and played a shape dominoes game. We moved on to working out which regular shapes we could use to make tessellation patterns then had fun trying out our ideas with paint and by drawing around 2D shapes. In PE, we started
Congratulations to Holly Stevenson in Primary 3 for receiving a special commendation certificate. Holly was recognised for her wonderful entry in the North Lanarkshire road safety calendar competition. Holly was presented with her certificate and prize at our assembly today. Well done Holly!
What a great party!!! Primary 2 and Primary 3 had a wonderful Christmas party this afternoon. We sang and danced to The Grand Old Duke of York, playing musical arms, corners, pass the parcel and even had a dancing competition. I think there will be some tired boys and girls tonight! 4 more sleeps to go 🙂
Today primary three enjoyed learning more about the properties of 3D shapes. Children were learning to describe the faces, edges and vertices (corners) of a range of 3D shapes including: cube, cuboid, triangular prism, sphere, cylinder, cone, square based pyramid and triangular based pyramid. Primary 3 have been learning about solids, liquids and gases as part of our science curriculum. Boys and girls learnt how solids, liquids and gases can change from one form to other. Our favourite was learning how chocolate changes from a solid to a liquid, even if it was a little messy. The topic finished with a practical investigation to discover what might affect how quickly ice melts. I think
On a very cold and frosty Friday morning, primary 3 ventured out into the playground to enjoy some outdoor learning in maths. The boys and girls had a treasure hunt to find 3 digit number cards hidden in our school garden. Can you guess which children collected the most number cards?
