Massively proud of our school netball team who attended the North Lanarkshire Netball Finals for the first time ever today! Our hard work has paid off! They didn’t win but they did incredibly well and were a credit to the school. A special mention must go to our captain, Zara, who was awarded ‘player of the team’ and also Callum, who played on bravely even with a sore knee!Thank you
We have been crazy about circles ever since our last Parent Open Event. Thank you to those who helped Primary 6 learn how to read a protractor correctly and use a compass. Look how far everyone has come with just a little bit of your help! In their art work pupils outlined circles with wax crayon and then thinly applied washes of paint. The aim was to let
Over the past few weeks, our Numeracy focus has been on learning all about fractions. Today, the children created a Pic Collage with a partner from their group to show what they have learned. Here are a few examples for you to see. You can ask your child to explain such terms as an improper fraction or an equivalent fraction! I’m sure that you’ll be impressed!
The Pupil Council has taken a break from serving on the tuckshop this week, but it will return next week with a couple of new additions! So far we have made about £50 in the first two weeks! Remember that all of the money made is going towards an end of term treat for the whole school to enjoy! Thank you for your support.
A HUGE thank you to all parents for your support so far with the sale of raffle tickets for our P7 Enterprise initiative. The children are raising funds to contribute towards their end of year treat before they had off to high school. Raffle tickets will still be on sale Wednesday 9th, Thursday 10th and Friday 11th May with the winners being announced on the Friday afternoon. A picture of
Aitkenhead Primary is proud to announce that our P7 pupil Alesha won a competition to rename the Active Schools volunteers. Alesha’s idea to call the volunteers the ‘Activators’ was chosen from a high volume of entries and the new re-brand will appear on all promotional material. Here is Alesha being awarded her certificate and prize by our Active Schools Coordinator.
The children have been very busy planning and preparing their own outdoor learning activities. They are now ready to be tested at our next Leadership Academy! Well done everyone!
Here are the children enjoying some fresh air, exercise and a good chat with their friends! We’re hoping to go a bit further afield in the coming weeks. Watch this space!
The French Champions Leadership Academy were busy today preparing for their French Cafe. We are looking forward to their parent/carer or relative coming along to visit on Thursday 24th of May at 2pm. I’ve attached some photographs of the French vocabulary we’ve been covering if anyone would like to revise at home.
