Another week has passed in St Bernadette’s and as always it has been busy but fun! I was delighted to be in the classes this week seeing terrific work from pupils and teachers.
P4 were dropping meteorites into sand and measuring craters.
P3 were making jackets for a snowman and using syringes to measure melted ice.
P6 were working with solutes and solvents to create solutions.
P1 were building a new chair for baby bear.
P2 were learning about pitch and putting musical balloons onto a stave.
P5 were using role play in Religious to examine what it means to be tempted as Jesus was in the desert.
P7 were debating about whether we should have a 4 day school week – believe it or not they voted against it!
We had our H factor awards today, well done to everyone who won. We were talking about what it means to be ambitious. Nathan H gave a super answer when he said it meant setting big goals rather than small goals. Do you have a big ambition?
Our Committees met today and there is a lot going on. The Fair Trade committee have organised a raffle for a hamper, tickets go on sale on Monday for 20p. The Pupil Council were discussing the playground and asked a question to the whole school about whether the P1-P3 pupils should use the playground at the back of the school. The majority agreed with this and we will put this in place following the Easter Break. We are hoping the ECO Committee will help to make sure the ground is litter free! The JRSO group are planning to host a “Bright Day” in May, this sounds like it will be a lot of fun. The Community Links committee are planning to have lunch at the Community Cafe next Tuesday, I am sure they will be great ambassadors for the school.
This weekend our P7s, Mr O’Raw, Mrs Longmuir and I will be getting packed for Kilbowie. I am really looking forward to a week of fun, challenge and new experiences for all. Throughout the week I will upload some photos to the blog and let you know how we are all getting on. A text will be sent to P7 parents to let you know when we have arrived in Kilbowie.
I’m confident that Mrs Moran, Mrs McIntyre and Mrs McLaughlin will ensure that all runs smoothly and the rest of the school continues to work hard – P5 & P6 have visits arranged to Strathclyde Park. P5 have swimming and P6 are going to Hamilton to try out curling on Friday. P3 are continuing with their preparation for Reconciliation. P5 are doing very well with the stationery shop enterprise, they have had to re-stock regularly, but don’t worry there will still be plenty on sale this week.
I have added a few photos of Oban just to get us all in the mood for Kilbowie. Keep praying for the good weather to stay!
