Play Leaders

In P6 we have been training to be play leaders with Mr Sweeney.

We have been learning how to teach children games in a simple fun way.We had to deliver a session with the other P6 and learned different games to show the younger children when we become proper play leaders. Some of the games we did with Mr Sweeney were Chaos Tig, Traffic Lights, sharks and Islands and Olly Olly Octopus.

Last week Mr Sweeney taught us some first aid. He taught us what to do if somebody got badly burned or cut and how to put on slings.

This week we learned abut CPR, the recovery position and choking with some help from Lynne who used to be a Paramedic!

Here are some pictures of us having our play leader sessions and having lots of fun.

Learning about Judo from Miss Malcolm.

On Monday we had another new teacher in the class – Miss Malcolm!

She was in to teach us all about Judo. We learned a lot of things we didn’t know such as the order of the belts, the names of some of the moves/holds and some interesting facts about some famous Scottish Judoka.

It was perfect timing with Allan in to teach us more about Judo on Tuesday!

Learning about Drones from Mr Davidson

Yesterday we had a new teacher in class – Mr Davidson!

He was teaching us all about the different kinds of drones and what they are used for. Did you know that in some places you can get Domino’s pizza delivered by drone?

After Mr Davidson showed us a Power Point we had to draw a picture from a drones point of view – it was quite tricky.

An Amazing Athletic Day

On the 28th November some P6 and 7s got to go to the Tryst Sports Centre for an athletics competition. We represented Chryston Primary for the athletics events against lot’s of other schools.

The day started with all the young athletes getting ready to get onto the bus, when it came we all got on and drove to St Barbaras. We picked up the athletes and from there and left for the Tryst. When we arrives we warmed up and got started.

First some people did javelin and they were good, next was standing long jump which was very fun, then it was vertical jump. I did that and it was very, very fun. After that we did speed bounce, I did not do it but it looked fun and hard! Afterwards was chest push – I had a shot it was ok. Lewis in P7 threw the ball the furthest from the whole day! Finally it was the triple jump.

In the afternoon we all did some relay, we won some of them! We raced against other teams. Some of the relays were just running but some were like obstacle courses!

Blog Post

This week we’ve been busy!

First in P.E on Thursday we spilt in to teams to play basketball and my team even shot two baskets!

Next in maths we’ve been doing some work on factors and multiples. We also moved groups on Wednesday and we made our group names to do with winter! The group names are: Santas Little Helpers, The Christmas Giraffez, The Snowballs, The Silly Snowmen and Santas Winter Wonderland Workers. The reason we changed group names is because we swapped seat!

On Tuesday Jonathan Paterson came to our school (he’s a Paralympian) and he did fitness circuits and an assembly about himself. We all had fun.

With Mrs Fleck we have been doing subtraction and a bit of HWB – exculded and included along with committees.

And finally we found out our new topic: The Victorians!

It will also be rememberance day soon so we’ve all been wearing poppies in school lately.

What a busy week!!
