Sustrans Hands Up Survey Results

Between 7th – 11th September, our Junior Road Safety Officers carried out the Sustrans Hands Up Survey by visiting all classes in the school.

As you can see from the chart below lots of the boys & girls at Lawmuir are travelling to school in a healthy way.

The most popular method of transport by a long way is by walking to school. Well Done everyone! Keep it up!

Learning update from Room 6!

Food & Nutrition

What a tasty start to the week.  We tasted four different kinds of cheeses.  Some we liked and some we weren’t so keen on!  Our favourite was Brie!

P.E.

In P.E. we have been learning new skills.  We have been learning to throw and catch accurately.  We kept trying even when it was tricky.

Literacy

We have been writing sentences using this weeks phonemes ‘qu’ & ‘ai’.

Health & Wellbeing

We have been learning about cookers and how to stay safe. We cook with the hob, we make toast in the grill and cakes in the oven.

What’s the Favourite Cheese in Room 3?

Room 3 took part in cheese tasting on Monday afternoon to end their topic on milk and dairy.  They tried French Brie, Mozzarella, Red Leicester and spreadable cheese which they had with breadsticks and crackers. Everyone really enjoyed this experience and decided that Red Leicester was their favourite.

Room 12 Visit to Strathclyde Park

Today we had an excellent time at Strathclyde Park.  This visit was arranged to enhance our learning of Interdisciplinary topic ‘My Local Area’.  Kaiden learned about the different trees. Tommy learned about the history Bothwellhaugh.  Kaleigh learned about the animals and birds.  Skye learned that the Roman Bridge was not built by the Romans.

We all had a terrific time!

School Meals Consultation Group

Boys and girls from the Pupil Council recently took part in a feedback session on School Meals. They had the opportunity to taste a variety of meals from the current menu and some possible future choices. The opinions they all gave were invaluable and will be used to help plan future school meal menus.

Well Done everyone!
