On Thursday the 18th of December, Calderbank’s Christmas carol singers went to Tesco and sang some songs from their Christmas show – The Little Match Girl. The children sang beautifully and managed to raise £65 for the school funds. Well done!
Some of the children children became very creative and made a selection of different Christmas crafts including crackers, cards, tree decorations and candles.
The children at Cookery Club had a great time making a variety of savoury and sweet treats, including a couple for Christmas.
The children at Science club investigated lots of different principles of Science, including forces and friction. All of it was done in a fun and investigative way.
Last week, Primary 5/6/7 were working with Mrs Young on how to write a short, Christmas, narrative story for young readers. Today, Primary 1 – 4 were fortunate enough to hear some of these stories during a storytelling session led by Primary 5/6/7. As you can see, the children really enjoyed getting the chance to hear some of the stories and see their illustrations!
We are pleased to announce that our Christmas show this year – The Little Match Girl was a success! We are so proud of all of our pupils who put in a lot of hard work to prepare for the show and put on an excellent performance on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday evening! Many thanks to all of the parents and staff who helped out behind the scenes, we couldn’t have done it without you! To all who attended, thank you! We hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did!
Today we were very fortunate to have Scottish Polar Explorer and our House Ambassador Craig Mathieson in to visit our school. He taught us a lot about the animals that live in the Arctic and Antarctic and what it is like being a Polar Explorer. We also got the chance to try on some of the clothes that he took with him on his expeditions! We wish him good luck with his Polar Academy and will be keeping in touch with him via Twitter!
