Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood

Part of our learning at school is about relationships, being safe, growing up, body parts and being a parent. In upper primary children also learn about pregnancy and birth. In secondary schools the young people also learn about gender, sex and sexuality.

#AskTheAwkward – help to talk with your children about online relationships (thinkuknow.co.uk) #AskTheAwkward aims to help parents and carers have regular conversations with their children about online relationships and more. The resource includes three short films created in a social experiment style, with real parents and their children to capture their reactions to a range of questions.

It should be noted that schools use resources which best suit the needs of their individual pupils. Please contact your child’s school if you have any questions about the resources they are using.

However, the main resources used for Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP) are

  1. Denominational schools:
    1. Primary – God’s Loving Plan
    2. Secondary – Called to Love
  2. Non-domination schools – National RSHP resources
