Day 2 adventures in Arran

Today we went to Brodick castle for a lovely walk round the gardens and the castle.. We ate our snack in a Bavarian summerhouse which was made of mostly pine cones . The Bavarian houses were built by the 11th duke of Hamilton who married an Austrian princess Marie of Barden. He built them to make his wife feel at home.  After a picnic lunch at the outdoor centre DL got ready with all the gorge walking equipment  headed up the hills with some other children from Rutherglen school. What a fantastic experience this was for DL. He participated in all the walk through waterfalls and flowing streams. PL went a long walk and a bit of shopping with Mrs Kelly. In the evening we teamed up with our friends from  James McFarlene on a bus trip to Whiting bay , then a very short walk as the midges were out in their millions. Everyone is exhausted and looking forward to bed.

Day 1 in Arran for PL and DL

We arrived safely in Arran to wind and rain , but did not let this dampen our spirits . We went for a very muddy walk along the beach to see the seals then up into the hills to visit the library in the woods back to the centre for a well deserved dinner. Both boys were exhausted and would have quite gladly went to bed but no off on another walk to Lamlash where we made a fire and melted marshmallows.  Both boys had showers toast and off to bed .

Day 4 in Arran

Today it rained and rained and rained but a few tones of rain did not stop our Haysholm  troopers .  After another full night of sleep by all  we headed for waterproofs after our breakfast.  Into the bus  and off to Whiting Bay  where we went for a long walk  up a hill or two to the hidden library , where we sheltered for lunch .  On to the waterfalls and back down to get bus , which then took us up to cloud base, where we  sat round the log burner inside a log wigwam melting marshmallows and drying off .  We then went to shops  to buy few gifts and back to the centre for dinner .  Never seen these pupils eat so much .  We are now getting ready to party the night away .

Day 3 in Arran

Another fabulous day on the Isle of Arran . Haysholm pupils are pushing the boundaries way beyond our expectations .    Today we went canoeing in the morning , then had a lovely picnic lunch in the sun and then we went on the speed boat to the Holly Isle . Dinner then beach walk and stone skimming in Brodick .  Supper shower and bed . No problems sleeping with all the fresh air and  activities.

Bute class in Arran

We arrived safely at Arran outdoor centre. Unpacked and met with staff to discuss plans for the week. After lunch (all pupils ate well) we headed out for a rather wet walk .  The rain did not dampen our spirits , boys all did a 5 mile walk and RB had a lovely walk with girls.  We are now having a 15 min rest in conservatory before we head off to dinner .
