P4/3

P4-3 Curriculum Outline

Term 1

The Welby Breakfast:

We had so much fun taking part in ‘The Welby Breakfast’. We learned all about the importance of a healthy breakfast and got to try some healthy breakfast options such as Weetabix, fruit salad and toast.

Open Afternoon:

We enjoyed inviting our adults into school. We had the opportunity to show them our new classroom and area of the school as well as share some of the work we are proud of.

Team Building:

We have been taking part in a variety of team building challenges in order to build a positive classroom community. Some of our favourites have been a silent line up, in order of height as well as constructing the longest paper chain using limited resources.

Topic:

This term, our topic has been ‘Charlotte’s Web’. We have enjoyed reading the story together and getting to know all of the characters. We furthered our learning by researching life on the farm and the life cycle of a spider.

P4-3 Curriculum Outline Term 2

Term 2

HWB

Throughout term 2, we have had a focus on teamwork and collaboration within P4/3. We were put into randomly selected groups and set challenges in order to identify, discuss and develop teamwork skills.

We built the necessary skills to lead an Enterprise topic for our peers to take part in. In our teams, we designed, advertised and led a stall activity (Guess the Bears Birthday, How Many Marbles in the Jar, Lucky Dip & Pin the Tail). We decided on our roles and worked together to successfully lead our stall.

Literacy

This term, we have been developing skills to write recounts. We have learned about the four features of a recount, deconstructed recount texts, written shared recounts and finally, written our own independent recounts about an event.

We enjoy sharing our writing on the ‘Author Seat’ as this allows for peer assessment opportunities.

Numeracy

We have been developing our mental maths skills through daily Number Talks. We have been learning to subtract large numbers using the ‘Counting on’ method.

Seasonal

We have had lots of fun taking part in seasonal activities in the build up to Christmas. We enjoyed our visit to the local church, learning about the Christmas story, we have taken part in seasonal Art opportunities and we all had lots of fun at our Christmas Party! Our Pupil Council member, Ivy, did a fantastic job of delivering the Christmas Quiz to P4/3.
