Home Economics
We are part of the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing. We
have 1 permanent member of staff in the department:
• Ms F Macdonald – Faculty Head (PE teacher)
• Miss E MacLennan
Our aim:
As a department we aim to teach pupils the essential skills they will require later on in life. Home Economics is a subject that gives pupils the necessary information to enable them to build foundations of a healthy lifestyle. It helps develop organisation and management skills which are qualities sought by all employers.
Our curriculum allows pupils to:
• Develop initiative, self confidence, self discipline, co-operation and the ability to work with others
• Prepare for effective living in a rapidly changing society
• Develop the knowledge to look after their health and that of others
• Gain practical experience in organisation and planning of work
